Quotes and bookings

Quotes are based on the information you give us at the time. If the actual job differs in a way that affects cost, extra stops, a heavier or larger load, a site that needs equipment we were not told about, we will contact you before doing anything that changes the price.

A booking is confirmed when we accept it and assign a vehicle. Until that point a quote is an estimate rather than a commitment.

Delivery windows

Time windows are given in good faith based on normal conditions and our knowledge of the route. They are not guarantees against events outside our control, which include severe weather, road closures, terminal and cargo building queues, and access being refused at a delivery site.

Where a window genuinely cannot be met we will tell you as soon as we know, while there is still time for you to make an alternative arrangement.

Your responsibilities

Goods must be packaged adequately for transport. Where a shipment is fragile, high value, hazardous, perishable or temperature sensitive, you must tell us before the job is accepted so the correct handling and coverage are arranged.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the addresses and contact details you supply and for telling us about site conditions such as the absence of a loading dock, restricted delivery hours or a building requiring insurance documentation in advance.

Liability and insurance

We carry commercial auto liability, general liability and cargo insurance. Cargo cover applies to goods in our care up to the limits confirmed for your job. Declaring the value at quote stage is what allows the correct level of cover to be arranged.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profit or lost business, arising from a delayed delivery. Claims must be raised promptly and, in the case of damage, supported by photographs taken before the goods are moved further.

Certain items are excluded from carriage, including cash, hazardous materials outside our authorisations, and anything unlawful to transport.

Waiting, reattempts and cancellations

A waiting allowance is included at each end and the rate beyond it is stated when you are quoted. Extended waiting and reattempted deliveries are only carried out with your agreement.

A job cancelled before a vehicle has been dispatched is not charged. Once a vehicle has been dispatched, a charge reflecting the work already committed may apply, and you will be told what it is at the time.

Payment

Payment is due on completion unless account terms have been agreed in writing. Account customers are invoiced by arrangement and payment is due on the agreed terms.

The invoice reflects the quoted price plus any additional charges you specifically agreed during the job.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey.
